Vers Baleyssagues
I am preparing for take-off: setting of the burners, tests, check and last heating trials before departure. We are going to take off towards the village of Baleyssagues
You can see the orange strap which links the balloon to the car: this is what we call the ‘largueur’ , which is loosened at the time of take off.

We are flying over Duras, here is the Castle of the Dukes and, behind, the hamlet of Pataud. In the background we can see a very old tree hedge which borders the small brook called Dourdèze.
At the foot of Duras the valley of river Dropt stretches out. We can see other old tree hedges, which is quite unusual because a lot of them were uprooted some forty years ago during the regrouping of lands.
We fly over the orchards of hazel trees before reaching the village of Baleyssagues
Baleyssagues, the village where I was born, lies some 3 kilometres west of Duras. We are going to land and pack up all the equipment. Why do not we fly back to our departure point? Because the winds which blew us until here would blow against us!
And now we are going to settle down to enjoy the champagne which is offered after each flight!
